Our Chapter
The Augusta-Fort Gordon Chapter of AFCEA is dedicated to the ethical exchange of ideas between government, industry and academia in the fields of information technology, communications, and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.
Our AFCEA Chapter has a long-standing tradition of providing opportunities to exchange ideas about information technology and communications-electronics that spans more than 30 years of hosting the AFCEA Signal Symposium and more recently, the AFCEA Augusta-Fort Gordon Industry Days.
Our Chapter also hosts luncheon speakers from DOD and industry. Our Chapter promotes education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by awarding grants each year to local teachers with innovative ideas to teach STEM in the classrooms. We also award merit-based scholarships each year to college students from the local area that are pursuing Bachelor of Science degrees in STEM majors, and high school seniors from the local area who have been accepted by a college into a Bachelor of Science degree program in a STEM major. We are also extremely proud to have partnered with General Dynamics to administer the LTG Douglas D. Buchholz Memorial Scholarship for enlisted service members or retired enlisted service members from the Augusta, Georgia area.
